Learn French 16 : The deck of cards
A deck of cards
= un jeu de cartes
a card = une carte
spade = pique
heart = cœur
diamond = carreau
clubs = trèfle
ace = as (♂)
deuce = 2 (deux)
3 = trois
4 = quatre
5 = cinq
6 = six
7 = sept
8 = huit
9 = neuf
10 = dix
(in terms of cards the numbers are always masculine)
jack (knave) = valet (♂)
queen = dame (or reine) (♀)
king = roi (♂)
Solution to the test :
- le trois de trèfle
- l’as de coeur
- le valet de carreau
- le roi de pique
- la dame de cœur
- le dix de trèfle
- le sept de pique

Sorry for making such a long video ! Plus, I made some horrible english mistakes (ts, ts, ts NOT GOOD!)
Trying to explain some french pronunciation rules, taking the word “BONJOUR” as an example.
B = pronounced like the english B (baby/ブ)
ON = French nasal sound, pronounced like in the video at 1:32
“ON” should be pronounced that way when placed at the very end of word or in front of a consonant. In front of B or P, the letter N becomes M.
J = pronounced like in the video at 5:05 (j ≠ dj)!!!
OU = pronounced [ue/ウ] like in “true”
