    I actually prefer …
    I actually prefer it without the subtitles. It makes it easier to link the words directly to their meanings (through the pictures), rather than linking them to an English word and having to translate everything back to English in our minds in order to gain meaning.

    Yes, it does mean “a” or “an”. Whether you say “un” or “une” depends on the grammatical gender of the noun.

    some of the french fruit name is almost like the norwegian fruit name: un ananas – ananas, un avocat – avocado, une banana – banan, un citron – sitron, un kiwi – kiwi.

    Unlike english, in french everything is either male or female, that includes objects and fruits. So some of them are male (un) and others female (une). There is nothing like “it” in english.

    Une grenade is a pomegranate, une carambole is a starfruit/carambola, une mandarine is a tangerine, the rest should be obvious. Hm, for coconut you can say un coco.
