Learn French 17

Sorry for the bad image quality

To apologise / 謝る
= s’excuser

to ask for forgiveness
= demander pardon

to be sorry
= être désolé (e)

I’m sorry. / ごめんなさい!
= Je suis désolé(e)

Sorry! / ごめん!
= Désolé(e)! or Pardon!

In a conversation to have someone repeat what they just said you can say “Pardon?”, or “Comment?” (or “Quoi” in a familiar context only).

Excuse me!/ すみません!
= Excusez-moi (formal)
= Excuse-moi (familiar)

Excuse me, what time is it ?
すみません、今何時ですか。
= Excusez-moi, vous avez l’heure s’il vous plaît ? *
(* this is not a literal translation)

I’m really sorry for not posting french lessons lately.
最近フランス語のレッソンをアップしなくて本当にごめんなさい。
= Je suis vraiment désolée de n’avoir pas posté de leçons de français ces derniers temps.

    You definitely have …
You definitely have a command of languages. It is inspiring. You have a gift. By the way, did you know that you can be well compensated for advancing in the languages you already are familiar with, teaching other the languages you are fluent in and learning new languages all at the same time. If this interest you at all, contact me. I’ll give you the details. Pleasure.

    You are building a …
You are building a following of some sort. Like a celebrity. All you have to do is teach a language and now about 3000 men are instantly attracted to you. Genius! Also interesting is how you got your American accent. It’s middle American, like Ohio, Pennsylvania, or something. You’re going to be on CNN or MSNBC sooner or later and probably do something even more extraordinary.

    Outstanding.

    Yes, it is …
Yes, it is acceptable. That is how we say. But when you want to ask the time to someone who is, for example, walking in the street, you need to stop him. So you would say “Excusez-moi (excuse me)”, then you would ask “Quelle heure est-t-il (what time is it?)”. If you want to be very polite, say this : “Excusez-moi monsieur/madame, quelle est il s’il vous plaît? (Excuse me sir, what time is is please)”. You can also ask “avez vous l’heure?” (do you have the time?(<=is that correct english?) )

    I’ve been learning …
I’ve been learning French through the Rosetta Stone CD-ROMs. For asking for the time, they say, “Quelle heure est-t-il?”. Is this also acceptable?
