BANDE DESSINEE ANGOULEME 2009
February 23, 2009 by admin
A visit to the BD festival in Angouleme, France. Every year, the BD festival takes place. BD = Bande Dessine = comic books.
The festival is mainly exhibiting publishers and illustrators of French language comic books, but there are also other types of illustration on view.
There are perhaps a few hundred exhibitors, and a small outlet to meet distribution agents if you have a professional pass. Some special presentations are staged through the event, and the town goes festival crazy.
It’s very recommended if you are into the French comic book scene – although there were some other Europeans on show, including some Brits from a Cheltenham design college and Sai, a Korean satirical illustration group. Plenty of people were buying their books, even though they were all in Korean. In fact, many people were buying all sorts of comic books by the tonne!

Are you working in …
Are you working in France? That would be the one place, other than home, that would tempt me to leave Seoul.
